Elephant garlic

Elephant Garlic is a remarkable, mild-flavored allium known for its exceptionally large bulbs and easy-to-peel cloves. Its gentle, slightly sweet flavor is excellent for roasting, sautéing, and fresh use.

Growing information: Plant cloves in full sun and loose, fertile, well-drained soil. Choose a location with good air circulation and avoid areas that stay waterlogged. Plant with the pointed end up, cover with soil, and mulch to help retain moisture and protect the cloves. Water consistently while the plants are actively growing, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering as the foliage begins to yellow, then harvest when the lower leaves have dried. Cure the bulbs in a warm, dry, well-ventilated place before storing.
