Pink banana squash
Pink Banana Squash is a vigorous, warm-season winter squash that needs full sun and fertile, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Plant after the danger of frost has passed, when soil temperatures are at least 65°F (18°C). Sow seeds about 1 inch deep, spacing hills 4–8 feet apart to allow the long vines to spread.
Growing conditions: Keep soil consistently moist with about 1–1.5 inches of water per week, using drip irrigation or a soaker hose when possible. Feed with compost or a balanced fertilizer, then side-dress as vines develop. Allow good airflow and watch for squash bugs, vine borers, cucumber beetles, and mildew.
Harvest and storage: Harvest before a hard frost when the rind is firm and fully colored, leaving 2–3 inches of stem attached. Cure in a warm, dry place for 10–14 days, then store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated location.
